happy things

I seem to be on a negative streak in my writing, so I have decided to dedicate this post to the good things that have been happening in my life.

School seems to be going very well. I'm learning a lot about Biology and English. What we have been studying in history is somewhat review. I enjoy the challenge of writing something worth reading even when I do not feel like it. I really did not know how interesting Biology was until I started studying it. The more I learn, the more I realize I do not know. Lots of the information is relevant to my life simply on an educational level.
We are currently studying worms. Before I did not know much about them at all, now what I know is beyond my comfort level. English is increasingly demanding. The more I learn, the more I am responsible for knowing and thus expected to practice. It is very satisfying to have written something constructive. I have found the more I write the better I get at it (who knew?).
Besides the academic facet of my schooling, I have been learning a great deal about life. From just playing basketball my perspective has changed significantly. My appreciation for hard work and aggression has grown exponentially. The people around me have given me a tremendous a gratefulness for the blessing and opportunities with which I have been favored. The different perspectives they have supplied me with are invaluable.
I have also learned some things about myself over the past few months such as: how I tend to learn best, what often motivates me, why I love doing certain things so much. I am constantly acquiring more understanding on those subjects, but I have definitely gained new insight most recently. The same principle applies though, the more I know, the more I know that I do not know. It is a perpetual pursuit of the perfect perspective. It is interesting, but frustrating nevertheless.

Specific things I have learned:
1. how to shoot a free throw
2. that you cannot know much about a person without the context of their family
3. how a virus works
4. that even the people closest to you can fail you in a way you never imagined
5. that I like winning
6. that I hate losing
7. how to use a semi-colon properly
8. the difference between monocots and dicots
9. that I am only one person (a deep revelation)
