Pulse

Attraction
the impulse to unite
compelled by desire
by want.

She moves
pulled by a sweet force
wondering what will become
and of the consequences.

The lines are blurred
the colors smeared.
Her heart beats faster
in response to the idea
of connection.

Swallowing her pride
for a moment.
Hiding her flaws
intentionally.

Leaning into the embrace
of feeling close.
Accepting, inviting, allowing
the walls of control to fall.

Contact
with the unknown
the incomplete
the space.

Empty of meaning
void of significance,
The petals
fall to the dirt.

Her soul exhales
in exhaustion
from attempting to impress.

He doesn't see.
He doesn't hear.
He doesn't smell.
He doesn't feel.

Waste
or investment
she is unsure.
Her lips, once a sounding board for affection,
have become the whipping post for disappointment.

Her eyes, once clear with understanding,
cloud over with doubt and
now are tinted like limousine windows.

Her assurance
melted
in a thick pool of depressing disgust
at herself.

Struggle
grasping for confidence
in worth surpassing superstition.
Identity

Power
Tale tales or reality?
Pinching her nerves not to feel
not to intwine
the silence.

Was she a victim?
Was that her choice?
Did she choose to surrender,
surrender to vulnerability?

Protection
from experiencing pain.
Cut off from touch.
Cold.

Ask nothing.
Risk nothing.
Give nothing.
Hold nothing.

Damp deciding.
Slippery action.
Her muscles rebel
against her heart.

She knows
but is not willing.
Her mind is a know-it-all
and a bully.

echo.

Location calling her back.
Be present, it tells her.
Calming the waves.
Permitting her decision to
be a mistake.

Objective
has come for her love
to see her fly
and purely gaze at her movement.

She squirms anxiously in reaction
to being seen,
to being heard,
to being felt

as herself.
She looks out to wonder
at consequences.
Breathing.

Nearly trapped by the words.
What is the result?
What is the end?
What is the time?

Nothing changes until it is recognized as being what it is.
