Disturbia Lane

I did a silly thing and stayed up way past my bedtime watching a movie that was sex-saturated fodder for flesh. It was pretty shallow on the whole and the parts that did try to dive deeper than skin deep seemed forced. The core of the entire film was based on some kind of sex or another. Mix a hot girl, some cute guys, little horror and suspense and you get a movie that will draw the teen boys without shunning the teen girls too bad. A little bit for everybody, except someone looking to see a good movie. Besides the plot was a rip off a really good movie called Rear Window. If you have seen that one then you essentially know the plot line for this movie after subtracting the great acting and a truly suspenseful story. What Rear Window had that Disturbia did not was a bit of intellectual depth. When you think about it though it kind of reflects our society at large.

Last night I stayed up watching a new movie called Pathfinder. It was really cool. I thought it was a good movie because it made you empathize with the characters and drew you into the story by creating an emotional lure. Disturbia I think tried to do that but because their characters were so underdeveloped you couldn't really tell. In Pathfinder you felt fear but not the same kind of fear that you got from Disturbia. They both involved death but in a different context. Of course their stories were different but what made one better than the other I think was the depth of the story in Pathfinder.

Anyway, it is late and I need sleep so I can get something done tomorrow.
